Ok, so the blog I decided to share with you guys is by a company called "Koala Deal". The reason I chose this blog is because their target market is women aged 20-30. I like their approach on marketing in their blog because they are using recent entertainment news to market their services. To sum it up, Koala Deal is a tool that learns about your interests and past purchases online and uses that information to find matching deals from the most popular deals sites (like Groupon!)
1. Based on what you read in the blog, did they convince you to try their services?
2. Do you think that using entertainment news to market to their target market is effective?
When I took a look at this blog and some of their entries I must admit that I was a little confused. But then I saw that they were using celebrities and icons like Superman to introduce certain deals. I thought that that was unique and a fun take =) [I guess that this is question #2] I do find it somewhat effective. There target audience is 20-30 like you said Chelsea, and people of this age group are interested in celebrity gossip so to integrate this into introducing a deal that their consumer can buy is brilliant!
ReplyDelete[question #1] and as far as convincing me to use their service based on the blog is a no. What convinced me to try their service is the video on the blog: “KoalaDeal Walkthrough Video”. I like how they walked you through the process of signing up for their service and specifically explaining what you get out of it- especially since there are so many online ‘deal’ services [groupon, living social].
Great find chelsea!

I was not impressed with Koala Deal. It started immediately with the sign up x amount of friends and enter to win something. It reminds me very much of the BigSpot Survey Scam.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like reading letters to the stars. I found it trashy. I can't keep up with Joneses, so I won't even begin to try to keep up with celebrities.
I know there are people out there who live and die by what celebrities do and buy, and I'm sure this is an advertising tool that would work great with them. Could it be profitable? Look at all the sleazy magazines on sale at the register of your favorite grocery. Somebody buys that stuff.
