Response to B2B Marketing

We will be talking about B2B marketing and how companies build partnerships in chapter 8.

From my own experience in partnership with Pepsi, I found that it was important to have a bond of trust between me and my colleagues at Pepsi. From my research over the past 20 years, I have found that trust is based on reliability, openness, competence, and compassion, or the ROCC of Trust.

Do you agree (or disagree)?

I would agree that trust is definetly gained
through an individuals ability to be reliable, open, competent, and express compassion towards another. As an individual whom has worked in varying work environments I feel that the down fall of many managers is establishing trust with their subordinates. Having a strong trust relationship between managers, co-workers, and partners is key to any businesses success. Because of this managers should invest time in developing strong trust relationships amongst their associates. Establishing strong trust relationships amongst co-workers contributes to individual motivation and employee retention,all in which makes things run smoother and easier.

Based on your color, which part of the ROCC of trust would you build first with a corporate partner?

If I were to establish trust with a corporate partner I would definetly begin by exhibiting competence as well compassion. I would want any potential corporate partner to know that the capabilities of fulfilling any job are there as well as exude compassion in which would express my consciousnes of the corporate partner and not just simply my own business, where as we are both within a relationship that works well for us both.

  1. I agree with this definition of trust. I feel like it encompasses everything trust is really about. If I desired to establish myself as a corporate partner with someone I would definitely want to show that I am competent and reliable. You have to demonstrate that you will exceed performance expectations by demonstrating complete competence and reliabiliy. What good would a corporate partner be that can not do their job correctly or be there when needed? These are both parts of developing trust that are extremely important.
