We see GEICO commercials all of the time. My personal favorite is when they relate GEICO to the little piggy who crys wee, wee, wee all the way home. It's all in the video, so here ya go...
I have always thought it was very interesting how even though GEICO has the most random, meaningless skits in their commercials that really do not relate to their insurance, people still remember the quote “GEICO, 15 min could save you 15% or more on your car insurance,” the main reason they are showing the commercial.

I do believe that Geico commercials are able to get their point across effectively, precisely because of the way they do their commercials. Geico takes something that has no relation to car insurance and then simply ends with their slogan. These commercials are usually extremely simple and witty, easily remembered. I think that Geico's commercials are more effective than that of their competitors. Competitors such as All State and Progressive generally show examples relating to car insurance, but these examples are usually farfetched and unrealistic. Because of this I relate more effectively with Geico, remembering their commercials and mission clearly. And I actually did purchase Geico over other insurance companies because I liked their approach better than other companies.
ReplyDeleteI think Geico's goal with their commercials is to get the consumer's attention which they seem to always accomplish even though their commercials usually have nothing to do with insurance. Geico's commercials are a break from the reality, they're random and off the wall, but this is what sets them apart from other insurance providers. Most companies advertise their insurance by showing scenes of accidents, Geico's more comedic approach followed by their tagline makes them more likely to be remembered and stand out among the others.
ReplyDeleteI think Geico does get their point across with their commercials. I personally can't stand the insurance commercials with Flo in them. She gets on my nerves so bad and I don't even remember what the insurance company is. I think my favorite insurance commercials are the AllState ones with Mayham. I do not have any of these insurance companies as my carrier. I wouldn't change insurance companies just because I liked or didn't like their commercials.
