Favorite Retailer?

Of all of these types of retailers, tell me your favorite, and why.

For instance, I love both Nordstrom (a department store) and Target (a discount store).

They are both at different ends of the price spectrum, but they are both neat, clean, carry nice merchandise, and are good value for the money. I cannot afford everything I see at Nordstrom, but I do enjoy a good Nordstrom sale! They also have great customer service. When my 16-year old was in middle school, she did not like anything I would ever pick out for her when we went shopping, so I would take her to Nordstrom and drop her off in the teen girl section. The personal shopper there would pick things out that she would like and we would all come away happy! At Target, we can all find things we like and afford. Never a wasted trip there.

What about you?

  1. DISCOUNT STORE~ For me i love to shop at thrift stores... i love being able to buy several items for 50 buck rather than one pair of jeans (not that i am against expensive (= clothes) and you find clothes that noone else has, or even find designer clothes for 3-5$

SUPER MARKETS~ i LOVE Harris Teeter (great selection, open 24/7 and i love going to the grocery store@midnite with my bestie) Compare Food (big range of fresh produce and latino ingrediates) and food lion (location- right down the street, and they always have a deal!!!!)

WAREHOUSE CLUB~ Costco....( love love love! love to buy in bulk! love being a member and love that you can pretty much eat a meal there with all the sample they hand out! great for my family since there's a lot of us, sam is ok guess but i love costco)

is sears a department store? love buying basics there and some clothes that are much cheaper to buy on sell than for me to make myself. =)

flea markets and yard sales are not retailers but i love to shop at these places as well~

  2. DISCOUNT STORES: I would have to say Target is my favorite. Over the years I have learned to live on a tight budget and I can find cheap clothes and other products at Target. I love when I can walk in the door and find their clothes are 50 or 75% off! I also love walking down the back of their aisles because that's where they put the clearance items. I have found pillow s that were originally $25 for $5. Its a great feeling walking out of there knowing you got a steal on their product.

SUPEE MARKETS: I would have to say Kroger is my favorite. I love the fact that I can get cheap, quality food there. If you use your kroger card you can get discounts on gas and once every couple months they will send you coupons on the items you purchase the most. Among these coupons you will receive coupons for $5 and up off your next purchase. Love it!!

  3. Discount Stores: Target is one of my favorite stores. It is like my second home! My husband prefers Wal-Mart though.

Super Markets: I really like Lowe's Foods and Harris Teeter, but I usually shop at Food Lion becasue there is one right around the corner from our house. We also buy some groceries from Wal-Mart and Target.

Department Store: I love shopping at Belk. They have a wide selection and you can usually find good sales. I am not sure if Talbots and Ralph Lauren would be considered Deparment stores, but I do a lot of shopping there too.

  4. Department Stores: I like Macy's and Belk because they have really great sales and they carry a lot of the brands I like to wear.

Discount Stores: I love Target. It's closest to my house and their prices are affordable. They also sell cute home decor and I love their exercise apparel.

Supermarkets: I shop at Whole Foods for all of my meats & bread and I get all of my veggies & fruit there when it is in the off season in NC (I like to get in-season veggies & fruits at the Durham Farmer's Market). For general food items I shop at Kroger mostly because it is right by my house and it's affordable. I like Harris Teeter when they have specials and when they do their double/triple coupon sales.

Warehouse Clubs: I'm a member at Costco and buy a lot of things in bulk when they have it on sale in their coupon book.

  5. I am obsessed with Target! I can never go in that store without buying SOMETHING....even if it's something that I don't need. They always have affordable prices and I can get so much shopping done there because they have everything. I also love a lot of the boutiques in Cameron Village...I really like Uniquities which is very expensive. However, they have really good deals now and then and I can usually find a steal! I think it's interesting how I can like two stores that are so different. I don't discriminate against any kind of shopping ;)

  6. I would have to say Target is by far my favorite discount store. I probably go there at least twice a week. There clothes are decent, and they have literally everything a person would need so they don't have to go to several stores to buy all their items on their shopping list. It is a very convenient place.

I also am a fan of department stores. Even though some of their items are expensive, I feel that once again you can find almost anything in department stores. I would have to say Nordstrom is my favorite! I love their shoes and a lot of their clothes. You can find great deals in a Nordstrom store!

  7. Target is hands down my favorite discount store. I get things there from electronics, to clothes, to furniture, to food; they have pretty much everything I need. I also love how they decent quality items for a great price. I just went there the other day with my boyfriend and he got 3 pairs of good every day jeans on sale for $5 a piece; how can you beat that?!

I also really like warehouse clubs like Costco and BJ's. You can get everything in bulk for great prices. I am not a huge shopping person for everyday items like paper towels, olive oil, shampoo/conditioner or toilet paper, so getting them in large quanties at great prices is right up my ally.

  8. Discount Store--I live at Target. I honestly feel like I can get anything I would ever need there. I feel like they do a good job of keeping up with the latest trends in every department as well. I can even get food there MUCH cheaper than any grocery store. It's very convenient to be able to get everything in one trip.

I also really love Nordstrom and Belk. I always tend to find cute dresses and shoes at both. I really love the Nordstrom Rack in Durham. Best idea ever.

  9. My super market would be Lowe's Food. I would always go with my mom before I went off to college so I think a lot of it is a comfort thing. I know where everything is and I love that you can use the points you earn while you save with the Lowe's Foods card. They have a good variety and carry the brands that I prefer at a decent price.
Target is also my favorite discount store. Its also my second favorite place to buy groceries. I'm very picky about my meat and I love that you can get chicken at Target that isn't veiny or fatty, it would probably be my favorite place if there was more selection. But as far as discount stores go, I appreciate how clean Target keeps their stores. Everything is always neat and I feel like I'm actually getting quality items despite their discount prices.

  10. I've been in both. Have to admit, I've been in Target many thousands of times and Nordstroms once. Nordstroms is out of my financial league, even with great sales.

I've spent entirely too much money at Target too many times that I now try very hard not to go there. I cringe every time the kids ask to go to Target, hoping I can get out and still keep my money in my wallet.

I do prefer a department store to a discount store when it comes to clothing. Convenience stores charge way too much, but are great in a pinch. I prefer smaller grocery stores to the larger supermarkets and superstores. About once a month I will shop in a hypermarket. That's when I need to stock up on necessities like toilet paper, paper towels, dish detergent, etc. I will not buy my groceries at the hypermarket any other time of the month because while much is less expensive, fresh produce is not the same quality, and many things on my grocery list is just plain more expensive. Back when I was married I had membership to a warehouse club. It was great, I could take my daughter in and we could have lunch for like $2 a person. I'd do the grocery shopping, get the monthly supplies, buy diapers and Slim Fast, and with the money I was saving, I'd add some clothes, some office supplies (in mega units that will never get used completely), beach chairs, etc. It was very much like the discount stores Target and WalMart, I spent entirely too much.
I always loved the bargains I could get at a warehouse showroom. Because I usually did my homework before purchasing, I never needed much assistance. This was a big win for me.

  11. Supermarket- I prefer Whole Foods and The Fresh Market because of the types of food they provide, the freshness, and the atmosphere of the store itself. It is somewhere I enjoy going (even if it is a chore).

Discount Store- I love Target, but I find it difficult to call it a "discount" store because I can never leave there without spending at least $100. But, unlike other stores of its kind, it is clean and organized. I can find what I want easily.

Department Store- I love Nordstrom as well. It is very clean, organized, they have great customer service (even a piano player!) and I can find some of my favorite designers there!

Superstore- I love A Southern Season in Chapel Hill. Huge variety of kitchen ware, food, gifts, and much more, plus a wonderful restaurant and an awesome atmosphere for such a large place. It is somewhere I don't mind spending a lot of time.

  12. Discount Store- I have found some of my favorite clothes at stores like Marshalls, Rossie's, and other discount stores that carry high brand products at a lower price. It really is such a great deal.

Department Store - Belk's at crabtree over the past couple of years have just completely blown me away with all the great designers sold in this department store. I can go to the mall now and just stay on one side of the mall to find everything. Love it!
