Test Your Awareness: Do the Test

The transportation bureau in London, Transport for London created a viral video to test drivers' awareness as a marketing campaign to alert drivers of cyclists and other distractions on the road.

Take a look at the video in the link above; you will be surprised at what you see and what you don't see......

1) Did you notice the moonwalking bear at first or did you see it once it was pointed out to you?
2) Do you think this viral video is effective in making people realize that their awareness of things maybe off?

  1. I liked that commercial. It definitely proved its point. I did not see the moonwalking bear at first because I was focused on what they asked (how many passes does the white team make).

I really think this was interesting and so true. If I am looking for one thing, I only focus on that one thing and I could possibly miss something that is very important. It does show that people need to be more aware of their surroundings sometimes. Focus on the big picture and not necessarily just the details.

  2. Great pick Jane!
so no i did not notice the bear until they said that there was one (= however i did correctly count how many times the white team passed the ball..... i didn't even really see the bear until right before the end...

i think that this video is very effective of demonstrating people's awareness... but at the same time i think if you tell someone to look at something carefully you are going to focus on one thing then the person will naturally tune everything else out. i also think that because the bear was black and it was behind the black team made it harder to spot out.

  3. I completely missed the bear! I was so focused on counting the tosses (which I also got correct) that I missed everything else that was going on in the commercial.
I think this video is effective in showing how aware people are of what they see. I think a lot of the time we just pay attention to what we are told to or what we think we should focus on instead of the whole picture.

  4. I noticed the moonwalking bear the first go round, but I wasn't exactly sure what it was. My count was off on the passing, I had counted more passes. On the second play, looking for the moonwalking bear, I didn't see it at all, I didn't count. On my third look, I saw the moonwalking bear and got the count right.

I hope this viral video gets people to notice there awareness levels are sometimes off. I know I pay attention to exactly what I'm told to. I hate those tests that say "you have three seconds to study this picture" and then ask you to list all the items you noticed. I freak out, my mind goes blank.

  5. That commercial definitely made its point. I did see the moonwalking bear, but I didn't know what it was. I think it is very effective at getting people to realize that their awareness levels are off.

  6. Wow, I didn't even see the bear the first time. I was so focused on where the ball was going, I didn't even pay attention. I just saw it the second time.

I think it was very effective in making people realize that their awareness of things maybe off. I do that all the time with paying attention to things; I am so focused on one little thing that I do not even realize what is going on around me. It is especially bad when I am really stressed about something that has a deadline.
